Many believe that the word 'Hindu' was given by Muslims and then coined by the British, wich is a false claim.
In the Rig Veda, 'Hindu' word is used: 'Hi' and 'ndu' both are used in the sense of cow-worshippers. In the scriptures written by Veda Vyasa, in repositories like Vividha Medani, in Puranas like Kalika Purana, 'Hindu' word is also used.
