THE INTERFERENCE OF US POLITICS

Yesterday seemed to be a day like any other: stock markets accustomed to the drainage of excess liquidity and movements contained in a few points of range both at the opening of EU markets and at the one of US futures. Sales begin without any particular breaking news and so, out of nowhere, towards the middle of the day, a powerful shakeout arrives on the EU stock markets: in a few hours a movement of over 400 points on the DAX is seen, approximately -2.5%. This is followed by the opening of Wall Street and finally in the evening we find a base from which to restart. This morning we are recovering more than 50% of the movement made yesterday.

WHAT THE VOLUMES SAY

The movement has been led by the "well informed" that gave strength and directionality to the decline: in the lowest point we did not see the usual action of the primary hand to support the markets and this would suggest that the movement may not be over. From our experience we can think that a bit of a clean sweep of clueless traders and small investors was done, and then covered and generated the V-shape.

YELLEN AND WINDS OF TAPERING

The market mover that could have caused this decline is attributable to the new US Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen who surprised everyone by saying "we will raise interest rates against inflation". After a few hours she corrects her words saying "inflation is only temporary and the FED has all the tools to deal with inflationary outbursts". To each his own Lagarde.

L'INGERENZA DELLA POLITICA AMERICANA

Ieri sembrava una giornata come le altre: mercati azionari assuefatti da drenaggio di liquidità in eccesso e movimenti contenuti in pochi punti di range sia all'apertura dei mercati Europei che a quella dei futures Americani. Iniziano le vendite senza particolari breaking news e così dal nulla verso metà giornata arriva uno scrollone potente sui mercati azionari Europei: in poche ore si consuma un movimento di oltre 400 punti sul DAX, -2,5% circa. Seguono in apertura di Wall Street ed infine in serata si trova una base da cui ripartire. Questa mattina stiamo recuperando oltre il 50% del movimento fatto ieri.

COSA DICONO I VOLUMI

Il movimento è stato guidato dai "ben informati" che ha dato forza e direzionalità al ribasso: nel punto più basso non abbiamo visto l'azione abituale della mano primaria a sostenere i mercati e questo farebbe pensare che il movimento potrebbe non essere finito qui. Dalla nostra esperienza possiamo pensare che si è fatta un pò di pulizia di traders sprovveduti e piccoli investitori, per poi ricoprirsi e generare la V-shape.

YELLEN E VENTI DI TAPERING

Il market mover che potrebbe aver causato questo ribasso è attribuibile al nuovo segretario del tesoro americano, Janet Yellen che spiazza tutti dicendo "alzeremo i tassi di interesse contro l’inflazione” . Dopo poche ore corregge il tiro dicendo "l'inflazione è solo temporanea e la FED ha tutti gli strumenti per far fronte alle fiammate inflazionistiche“. Ad ognuno la sua Lagarde.
