n the island's archbishop, Monsignor Charles Scicluna. The Maltese archbishop's liberal-progressive orientation is well known, as is his closeness to the leaders of the island's homosexual organisations, who consider him a great friend.
Father Davide Muscat was summoned to the police station, where he learned that he had been formally charged. He will be tried on 28 January next. Evidently, Maltese justice is swift for these crimes. The charge is that of violating Art. 82A of the Penal Code, amended just last year, which states that "any person who uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or engages in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, or disseminates written or printed material with threatening, abusive or insulting content, or otherwise incites violence or racial or religious hatred against another person or group on grounds of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, colour, language, ethnic origin, religion or belief or political or other opinion, or for which such violence or racial or religious hatred is likely to be fomented, taking into account all the circumstances, shall be punishable by imprisonment from six to eighteen months". In addition, the charge of misuse of electronic communication equipment and could also cost him a fine of up to 23,000 euros.
We, on the other hand, publicly support Father David Muscat with conviction against the shameful attack of which he was the victim. And, as believers, we continue to pray for him.
