⁣How was the Mahabharata written?

The Mahabharata is the longest epic poem ever written in the world, with 200,000 individual verses in 18 chapters.

The Mahabharata is ten times lengthier than Iliad and Odyssey combined. The Bhagavad Gita appears in the middle of Mahabharata. This poem is actually tremendously vast volume, and no human would be capable to write that.

Narada insisted that the sage Veda Vyasa, who has written many wonderful books, should also write the Mahabharata epic to help the common man to understand the subtle truths of the universe.

So, sage Vyasa sought the help of Ganesha to write down what he is saying. Ganesha on his part said that the moment Vyasa will stop reciting he will stop writing forever. Veda Vyasa agreed Ganesha's terms, provided he fully understand the meaning of everything he is saying before he write.

Both agreed and wrote the great epic Mahabharata.
