Nel 2008 il pianista jazz giapponese Yōsuke Yamashita rivisita il suo recital del 1973 su un pianoforte in fiamme con un'esibizione su una spiaggia a Shika-machi, in Giappone.
"Non pensavo di rischiare la vita, ma stavo quasi soffocando per il fumo che mi entrava continuamente negli occhi e nel naso. Avevo deciso di continuare a suonare fino a quando il pianoforte non avesse smesso di emettere suoni, alla fine ho finito per avere una battaglia di vita o di morte tra me e il pianoforte.”
In the 2008, Japanese jazz pianist Yōsuke Yamashita revisits his 1973 recital on a burning piano with a performance on a beach in Shika-machi, Japan.
"I did not think I was risking my life but I was almost suffocating from the smoke that was continuously getting into my eyes and nose. I had decided to keep on playing until the piano stopped making sounds, it ended up having a life-or-death battle between the piano and myself.”
