Candida Albicans (yeast) is a stealth assassin. It is a single celled organism that can network and become a fungus. It’s in all of us, and the consensus is that it’s okay as long as it’s population is controlled. People say that you cannot get rid of all of it.
The problem arises when Candida makes a power grab. It waits until you are depleted and sick. It teams up with other pathogens when your immunity is lowered and seeks to expand its territory. Candida is very patient, and it is very resourceful.
I think of Candida as a co-disease. It works together with other infections including cancer, bacteria, virus, parasites and mold. It’s goal is simple. It’s job and purpose is to turn your body into compost.
Candida overgrowth In the gut is common in the USA. Diets of bread, meat, cheese, beer and other yeasty foods feed the candida. Candida thrives on sugar and wheat and grows stronger in an acidic environment.
Big big problems arise when Candida expands beyond the gi tract and enters the bloodstream and other body systems including the organs. Signs of yeast overgrowth include a white tongue, nail fungus, dermatitis, sinus infection, chronic fatigue and of course what we all know and think about because TV- vaginal yeast infection. In fact most people only think of yeast infection as a vaginal occurrence.
Once again we see stigma attached to a very serious and deadly disease. Yeast infection is a term that has been reserved exclusively for the vagina. As a result, most people are completely in the dark on what candida is, what it does, and most importantly how to treat it. Most people will be embarrassed about it and as a result ignore it.
